Between Font Review

As a web designer, I’m always on the lookout for fonts that bring both style and clarity to a site. Between has quickly become one of my go-to choices for headers, hero sections, and decorative accents. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about how it performs in real layouts and what it brings to the table for digital projects.

First Impressions: A Script with Character

When I first saw Between, I was drawn to its elegant flow and modern edge. It’s a script font with a soft, handcrafted feel that still feels polished. The curves are smooth, the weight is balanced, and the overall personality is warm and approachable. It’s perfect for adding a personal touch to a website without overwhelming the design.

I tested it on a creative portfolio site, using it for the main heading and a few subheadings. The font looked great against a simple background, but even when layered over images or dark backgrounds, it maintained its readability and visual appeal. It’s clear that Between was designed with both aesthetics and usability in mind.

Using Between in Hero Sections and CTAs

One of the first places I used Between was in a hero section for an online store. The client wanted something that felt unique but still professional. Between fit the bill perfectly. Its flowing lines gave the page a sense of movement and elegance, while the clean spacing made it easy to read on mobile devices.

I also tried it in a call-to-action button. The font added a nice contrast to the surrounding text and made the button stand out without being too flashy. It worked well with a bold sans serif body font, creating a balanced visual hierarchy. The combination felt modern and cohesive, which is exactly what the brand needed.

Responsive Design and Mobile Performance

Testing Between on mobile screens was crucial. I’ve seen many script fonts that look beautiful on desktop but become hard to read on smaller devices. Between handled it well. Even at smaller sizes, the details remained legible, and the font didn’t lose its charm. It’s a great choice for headings and short phrases on mobile sites.

On a landing page for a digital course, I used Between for the headline and a few key points. The font added a sense of personality and made the content feel more engaging. It paired well with a clean, readable sans serif for the body text, ensuring the site stayed accessible and easy to navigate.

Font Pairing and Brand Identity

Pairing Between with other fonts was another area I explored. For a boutique online store, I combined it with a simple sans serif for the product titles and descriptions. The contrast between the two fonts created a nice balance—Between brought the flair, while the sans serif kept things grounded and functional.

I also experimented with pairing it with a serif font for a more editorial look. The result was elegant and sophisticated, ideal for a blog or portfolio site. Whether used as a display font or part of a larger typographic system, Between adapts well and adds a layer of creativity to any design.

Limitations and Best Practices

While Between is a strong choice for headlines and decorative elements, it’s not ideal for long paragraphs or dense text. Using it for body copy would be a mistake—it’s too ornate and could reduce readability. That said, it works beautifully for short phrases, logos, and title blocks.

For web use, I recommend checking the available weights and styles before integrating it into a project. Some script fonts have limited character sets or lack proper alternates, which can affect how they render across different platforms. Between, however, seems well-rounded and ready for a variety of digital applications.

Another thing to consider is multilingual support. If you’re designing for an international audience, make sure the font includes the necessary characters. Between appears to handle most common languages, but it’s always good to double-check.

Final Thoughts on Between

Between is a versatile and stylish font that brings a lot to the table for web designers. It’s perfect for headers, hero sections, and CTA buttons, and it pairs well with a range of other typefaces. Its modern, elegant look makes it ideal for creative portfolios, online stores, and branding projects.

Whether you’re building a new website or redesigning an existing one, Between offers a fresh and professional look that can elevate your design work. Just remember to use it where it shines—headers, logos, and short phrases—and pair it with more readable fonts for the rest of your layout.
